The second scene of Revelation (12:1–22:5) provides the reader with an alternate vision of Gods plan, by which “the kingdom of this world” becomes “the kingdom of our God and of his Christ” (11:15). Specifically, God will judge this evil, beastly world and the forces of evil within it (by means of the Lake of Fire and Sulphur, see also Rev 14:17-20) and reward those who resist the temptations of the world and stand firm in the Gospel (by means of the New Jerusalem, see also Rev 14:14-16). In this sermon, focusing on chapters 12-16, we see the first half of that truth vividly displayed. The enemies of God are introduced (chs. 12-13) and then receive judgement (chs. 15-16), i.e. The Seven Bowls.
